Itinerary

Day 1 – Huaraz to Cashapampa to Llamacoral

Our private tranportation service comes to pick you up at your hostel at 6am to drive you to Cashapampa (2,900m) where we will start the Alpamayo trekking. We will hike up to Llamacoral at an altitude of 3,750m where we will camp for the night.

Hiking time: 6 hours

Day 2 – Llamacoral to Taullipampa

After breakfast, we start walking 7:30am to reach Taullipampa at 4,250m. If you are brave enough you have the option to walk up to the Alpamayo Viewpoint (4,430m) to have a panoramic view of the Cordillera Blanca and the most beautiful mountains of the region.

Hiking time: 7 hours

Day 3 – Taullipampa to Tuctu

On this day, we climb up the first pass of the trek: Punta Unión Pass at 4,750m. After this, we will descend to Tuctu, our camp for the night, at 4,200m.

Hiking time: 6 hours

Day 4 – Tuctu to Quisuar

After breakast, we start our ascent to Alto Pucarajú Pass at 4,640m. It is one of the most mesmerizing passes of this trek because you have a sweeping view on Huascaran (6,768m), Artesonrajú (6,025m) and Alpamayo (5,940m). We then descend into Quisuar camp at 3,800m where we spend the night.

Day 5 – Quisuar to Jancapampa

We climb up to 4,400m and the Tupatupa Pass, and then descend back into Jancapampa (3,600m). This day is beautiful because you walk a long time along Quenual forest, a native tree from the region. You will also have the opportunity to buy snacks and drinks from the local farmers.

Day 6 – Jancapampa to Huillca

On this day we go up to Yanacón Pass at 4,600m and descend to Huillca camp at 4,000m. In the Huillca camp, farmers raise alpacas and llamas, which you will be able to observe.

Day 7 – Huillca to Jancarurish

We will hike up to Caracara Pass at 4,850m and sleep at Jancarurish Camp at 4,250m. You can have a great view of the famous pyramidal face of the Alpamayo mountain from the camp.

Day 8 – Jancarurish to Osoruri

Today we go to Osoruri Pass at 4,850m, the highest pass of the trek, and camp at 4,620m. We will walk through Ruinapampa where we can observe archeological remains.

Hiking time: 9 hours

Day 9 – Osoruri to Hualcallan

On our last day we will walk down 1.5km to Hualcallan situated at 3,140m. Our private transport back to Huaraz will be waiting for us to end the treck,
